Insurance core for policy, claims and finance operations
A general insurer writing motor, property, marine and engineering business needed to replace a fragmented core dating from 2009. Over fourteen months and four phases we built one insurance ERP, migrated fifteen years of policy history and ran it alongside the old ledger for two quarter-closes before switching over.

The challenge
Policy changes reached claims overnight, reinsurance at month end and finance through manual exports. Reconciliation had to finish before IFRS 17 work could begin. Brokers generating about 70% of premium waited two days for routine quotes, while a new product required a vendor change request and a six-month wait.
Our approach
We delivered four phases, each with a go-live. First, coverages, rating tables, wordings and bilingual schedules became configurable data, with referral rules and underwriter authority limits. Next came broker and customer portals for quotes, binding, endorsements, renewals, commission statements and certificates, with Emirates ID and vehicle details read from uploads. Claims followed: first notice, reserving, assignments, recoveries and payments, plus fraud-risk flags for investigators to assess. The final phase connected treaty and facultative reinsurance, cessions, bordereaux, receivables, VAT and ledger postings. We built the IFRS 17 data integration, largely for the premium allocation approach, and brought in an actuarial consultant for the measurement models.
Outcome
- Policy, claims, reinsurance and finance connected, with six systems retired after two parallel quarter-closes
- Standard motor and property broker business bound in about forty minutes, with cases outside authority referred with the file ready
- Reinsurance cessions calculated as business is written, with treaty bordereaux generated from the records
- IFRS 17 contract groups and quarterly returns produced from the system, with quarter close reduced from eleven working days to four
“Six systems became one and the quarter closes in four days instead of eleven. The part I did not expect was the brokers — they bind in their own portal now, and two who had stopped sending us business have started again.”Mariam Al-Falasi — Head of operations, Hisn Insurance
